Motivational Factors
We surgeons try hard to give everyone perfect vision after surgery. We nearly always achieve very good vision, but we don’t always get all the way to perfect.
Some individuals come into my office unhappy with their vision with their glasses and contacts. They don’t mind wearing the glasses or contacts, but they simply are not seeing well enough, even with glasses on or contacts in. These patients may be disappointed after surgery because the procedure often leaves vision the same as glasses or contacts.
The ideal motivation for surgery is that you dislike your glasses and contacts, and would be happy if your vision after surgery were very good, even if it weren’t quite perfect. If that’s your motivation, you will almost surely be happy after vision correction surgery.
