"I had a DMEK partial corneal transplant with Dr. Shamie to fix a hereditary disease of the cornea. My eyesight had gotten so bad that I was not comfortable driving anymore. It has been two months since my surgery and I have 20/25 vision in the corrected eye. When I had my first consultation with dr Shamie I was impressed with her knowledge of the disease. I had consultations with other doctors but I knew she was the one I wanted to perform the surgery. She is warm, kind and caring. I brave terrible Los Angeles traffic to see her and it is well worth it."

"Dr. Shamie is the best! Three weeks ago (1/24/18), she did both a cornea transplant and cataract repair on my left eye. This is my fourth cornea transplant, second on this eye. This is by far the best experience I've had. Vision is clearing very quickly. I've been to many ophthalmologists over the past 50 years with keratoconos, including very highly respected cornea specialists on both coasts. And my conclusion is that Dr. Shamie is in a league of her own with her knowledge, skills, and compassion. I thank the Divine Intelligence for bringing me to her!"

William Eidelman, MD

"Dr. Shamie is the best surgeon I have ever had. She has my utmost confidence and I give her my highest recommendation. I came to her after an unsuccessful cataract surgery that caused significant complications with my cornea. Subsequently she has performed a DMEK cornea transplant on each eye. Her approach was conservative-no rush to surgery. Her analysis of my condition was thorough based on state of the art equipment (wish my first cataract surgeon had taken similar care before surgery). She is very abreast of new developments in treatment; her experience and resume are amazing. Every interaction I had in office or in surgery was very patient friendly and focused. She consistently projects confidence in her ability (as she should); she has impacted my life in a very positive way."

"I had a corneal cross-linking procedure performed by Dr. Shamie. She is a skillful and very caring surgeon. It’s been three days since the procedure and my eye has healed very well. The day of the procedure is painful but the pain dissipates quickly and is well worth it in the long run (to avoid a corneal transplant). Dr. Shamie has a helpful staff and walks you through the process every step of the way. Highly recommend."

"I have been struggling my entire life with bad sight that I needed a cornea transplant. I was almost blind in my right eye. She brought the light back to my eye. She is very professional and knowledgeable. A big thank you to Dr. Neda Shamie and her entire staff that always treated me with great courtesy."

"I had a corneal abrasion that turned into a bad infection, and let me tell you, by the time I got to Dr. Shamie (after the ER and a local ophthalmologist who referred me to her), I was in ROUGH shape. I hadn't slept in days because it was so painful, and she was as welcoming, kind and gentle as could be. I also appreciated, over the course of our many, many visits (on one day, I visited twice because I had a bad reaction to an amniotic patch intended to speed up the healing process), how much care and concern she showed me: she referred me to another corneal specialist at one point to rule out a parasitic infection (shudder), gave me her cell phone number to call in case of emergency, and spent a long time examining my eye and making sure nothing was missed. I feel very lucky to have found Dr. Shamie. She's a gem."

"Dr. Shamie has been my ophthalmologist for all the years I've lived in Los Angeles. When her practice moved, I followed, because she's a trustworthy, accomplished, highly credentialed, and very personable professional who makes my annual trip to the eye doctor something I actually look forward to. After years of routine eye exams, this year, for the first time, I had a problem that required significant treatment: A cyst developed on my eyelid. I very much appreciated Dr. Shamie's efforts to treat it minimally at first (with injections) before resorting to a surgical solution. When surgery proved necessary, she was very focused, efficient, and compassionate. She talked me through each step of the process; I always felt fully informed. Eyelid surgery is exactly as unpleasant as it sounds, but Dr. Shamie's bedside manner made it much more tolerable, and the problem was solved with flawless results. I recommend her highly."

"I have researched top ophthalmologists specializing in corneal issues and discovered Dr. Shamie. She removed cataracts and implanted new lenses in both of my eyes, and they have both turned out perfectly. Plus, my astigmatism is gone. All while ensuring no damage to my corneas. (Like a couple of other reviewers, I, too, have I have Fuchs’ corneal disease. I’m hoping to never need corneal transplant surgery, and I chose Dr. Shamie because she is one of the top Fuchs’ doctors in the world. If not done with the utmost care, cataract surgery can accelerate the progression of this type of corneal disease and lead to the need for transplants. Corneal specialists make the best cataract surgeons for this very reason!) My wife is also a patient, and we both drive all the way from San Diego to get the top level of expert care that we believe only she can provide. Dr. Shamie is exceptionally charming and personable, generous with her time, a patient and thoughtful listener, follows up to make sure all of my questions and concerns were addressed. Above all, consistently puts each patient’s vision first."

"An amazing physician and very skilled with her hands. From the moment you walk into Dr. Shamie’s office, you are welcomed and made to feel at home. Her staff is amazing. She is highly trained and truly the best. She is very caring and will take her time to thoroughly examine your eyes and come up with a very personalized approach to your care. Dr. Shamie is your go-to ophthalmologist when your eyes need attention."

"Dr. Shamie is one in a million! she is one of the smartest, most experienced and talented surgeons in her field. She also has the best bedside manner and doesn't jump to surgery unless absolutely needed :)"

Babik Azizzadeh

"Dr. Shamie is absolutely brilliant! If I could give her a 10 star review I would. I was suffering from Fuchs Cornea Dystrophy (and going blind) and she gave me my sight back. She is not only a brilliant surgeon, she is a fantastic doctor who cares deeply for her patients. If you need the best, Dr. Shamie is definitely the one to call."

"Dr. Shamie is quite simply, the cat's pajamas. Millennials ... look that up. She possesses extraordinary technical skills alongside a bedside manner that relaxes anyone with a shred of anxiety. After being diagnosed with a rare corneal disorder, I set about finding a specialist with a stellar reputation. After a brief consultation, she concisely detailed my options, expedited my ensuing procedure, then provided unwavering follow-up. She's insanely cool and knows her stuff."

"I started my journey about 7 months ago. Over the past several years the vision in my right eye had been seriously diminishing to the point where about a year ago I couldn't see anything past my nose without it being very blurry. So I thought I finally needed glasses. I went to my local Costco and had an exam done and the optometrist gave me a very concerned look and said I needed to see an ophthalmologist. A friend of mine referred me to Dr Silani in Beverly hills. The next week I was out there to see him as I was worried and had no idea why I couldn't get glasses. He ran some tests and said that he believes I had an eye disease called keratoconus and that glasses or contacts would not help my vision. He then referred me to Dr Shamie. I went to my appointment with her about a week later. She did confirm I had keratoconus. She recommended a corneal transplant in my right eye and down the road corneal crosslinking in the other eye. She was very kind and personable as well as extremely professional every step of the way. Of course at first I was a little worried as I never thought I would need anything like this done. Her demeanor and confidence made me feel very comfortable and that I was seeing the right doctor. It has now been a 3 full weeks since my procedure which was the DALK corneal transplant which from what I understand is a partial thickness transplant meaning she left a thin layer of my original cornea which in turn should last my entire life. The day after my surgery I noticed immediate results and now 3 weeks later it is steadily getting better and better. I don't know if I was ever able to see this good and I still have a long road to being fully healed. I cannot thank you enough Dr Shamie and I encourage anyone with keratoconus to go see her. I don't believe any other doctors in the area offer this type of transplant and from what I have read from others that had normal full thickness transplants done I have progressed much farther and faster than them as well as with a full thickness transplant it would not last my entire life. Every day I wake up it's a whole new world and all thanks to Dr Shamie' s amazing work, experience, and expertise. Her compassion for her patients is bar none. You will not find another doctor like her."

"She was recommended to me by Insight Optometry in Costa Mesa, for an issue with my cornea. How good must you be to be recommended by a doctor in Costa Mesa to send you to a doctor in Beverly Hills. After a very extensive exam, a treatment plan was made and executed. She replaced my lens in both eyes. During the pre-opt exam her team and her discovered a tear in my retina, she then got me to a retina specialist who repaired the retina. With great skill and care she replaced my lens that had cataracts, and thus avoiding any surgery on my cornea. I could have had been told that I needed retina repair, lens replacement and a Corina transplant. Because of her I now see 20/20 without glasses, and only had retina repair and lens replacement. When you visit her and her office you will be there for a long time; because they explore every option and run every test. She is not the fast food of eye care; she is more like fine dining of eye care."

"I have suffered with dry red eyes for many years. After going to several eye doctors over the years and spending a lot of money on procedures, medicines and eye drops that didn't work, my internist referred me to Doctor Shamie. At that point I had an eye infection from some eye drops from another eye doctor that apparently, I was allergic to. Dr Shamie figured out what was going on right away and addressed the problem. Not only did she get me on eye drops and daily eye care that worked for me, but she did an amazing procedure called Lipiflow, which is relaxing and feels like a massage for your eyes. I love it! The result has been no more red eyes. Not only is Dr Shamie very warm and personable, she is an outstanding doctor. She is smart and knows what she is doing. I am grateful to her for taking care of my problem and I trust any recommendation she has for me."

"I had a rare and serious eye infection which started about two months ago. The infection severely affected my vision, to the point that I felt as if I was already losing my eye sight. It was a scary and frustrating phase of my life. The parasite that infected my eye was tough and I've been in constant search of the best eye doctor since when I got diagnosed. Thankfully, one of Dr. Shamie's patients referred me to her. A month after religiously having consultation sessions and following through treatment orders, I saw 90% improvement in my vision, and my eye started looking better and normal again. Right now I'm still under Dr. Shamie's care, my vision is still improving while my cornea is slowly healing. I am really thankful that I got referred to Dr. Shamie. She made me feel at ease; she is very professional, caring, and really good at what she does. Since day 1, I've felt that I am in good hands with her. She is the best, and I am forever grateful!"

"Dr. Shamie is simply the best! I suffer from Fuchs Cornea Dystrophy and was going blind. She gave me my sight back. There are no words for me to express how thankful I am for her. She is not only a brilliant surgeon, she genuinely cares or her patients. If you need the best, she is the doctor to call."
