I was nervous about undergoing the EVO-ICL surgery however I felt I was in the most capable hands when deciding on Dr. Shamie as my surgeon, and I am so grateful that I did. At age 67, my cataracts were so severe and brittle that I could no longer procrastinate and postpone surgery. After undergoing oncology treatment for a rare blood cancer, the side effects of high doses of prednisone had caused extreme clouding in both eyes and driving and reading was becoming more difficult. I had been terribly near sighted since childhood and had worn glasses since third grade and contacts since the age of 16. My cataracts were so severe that I could only see the big E on the eye chart without my contacts. And even then it was blurry. I had been delaying having surgery because I didn’t want to have to choose between wearing reading glasses or alternatively, distance glasses, after cataract surgery. I wanted perfect vision and my local doctors offered no such alternative. My local optometrist, however, referred me Dr. Neda Shamie for evaluation for the Light Adjustable Lens (LAL) procedure. It was touted as a way to achieve the perfect vision I was seeking, allowing me to see close up, mid-range and far away without glasses. I made an appointment to travel to Los Angeles, met with Dr. Shamie, found out that despite my extreme near-sightedness, I was qualified for the LAL procedure. Two words: Life Changing! Dr. Shamie was incredible as my surgeon, as was Dr Kristin Barnes, who provided pre and post op care. The office staff and assistants were personable, helpful, and went out of their way to work around my busy schedule. Although the LAL procedure requires about a month’s worth of follow-up visits to tweak the vision in each eye to perfection, and of course the need to wear U/V glasses during that time to protect the eyes, it was well worth it. I can see better than before, with 20/15 distance vision and 20/20 close up vision. I do not need reading glasses to read a book, a menu, or my iPhone; my computer (mid-range) vision is awesome without correction; and I can see perfectly to drive the LA freeways. For the first time in memory, I wake up and I can see! Sometimes I just laugh to myself when I first wake up and start fumbling in a stupor to find my glasses, then I realize, oh yeah, I CAN SEE! I have to pinch myself. Dr. Shamie has the best bedside manner you can ask for. She listened to my concerns, answered all my questions, treated me with respect, she was so kind on the day of surgery making sure to chat and reassure me as we prepared, she called me after the surgery, and handled my subsequent check ups with friendly professionalism. The cataract surgery itself was efficient, painless and I walked out of the surgery center feeling incredible. I had zero complications. Dr. Shamie is so very experienced, confident in her abilities, and will immediately put you at ease. After surgery, Dr. Barnes worked patiently with me over the following weeks to ensure that the post op light adjustments customized my vision, achieving what was ultimately better than perfect vision, and we did not lock down the lens adjustments until I was completely satisfied. If I could leave more than 5 stars I would. I had cataract surgery, performed by Dr. Shamie, two months ago and could not be happier. The practice was a pleasure to deal with. All my appointments started on time. The staff answered all my questions and spent as much time with me as I needed to get answers and make decisions about the type of lens to receive. They provided a lot of education around eyes and cataracts and vision which was what I needed.

My pre-surgery appointment with Dr. Shamie was comprehensive and I felt that I was in good hands for my cataract procedure(s). Both surgeries at the Surgery Center were attended by an incredible staff which was well-trained and both surgeries were successful. Dr. Shamie is an accomplished surgeon and I felt that I had the best care available.
I considered a number of experienced ophthalmologists for a cataract procedure. Ultimately, I chose Dr. Shamie because of the high level of organization within her practice. Everyone, including the front office staff, the optical technicians, and her staff optometrist, was working together to assist her on my case. When I needed specific information about the details of my procedure, I was able to speak with someone who could explain things in sufficient detail. This gave me a great deal of confidence going into surgery. Note that without any prompting, they immediately organized post-surgical appointments with my local optometrist. This made the overall process much simpler for me. The procedure went well and I am quite happy with the resulting vision improvement. I would recommend Dr. Shamie and her team to anyone considering this type of surgery.

I had cataract surgery in both eyes and because I chose laser surgery, Dr. Shamie also addressed my L& R astigmatism. I cannot express how astonishing the positive difference in my sight is! I can see details and read with so much greater ease! I was actually giddy in my ophthalmologist’s follow up appointment. I haven’t seen so well in decades! The surgery itself went absolutely smoothly and the two different anesthesiologists were great. Twilight of the gods. Dr. Shamie was reassuring and expert. I felt very confident. Everything is extremely well run at Maloney-Shamie. The office is beautiful, the staff is really nice, knowledgeable and accommodating. They address any questions and concerns right away and with patience. The surgery itself was totally painless and short and I never felt any discomfort after either surgery (I had a lense replacement in both eyes) Clearly Dr. Shamie is one of the best in her field by a lot - you will feel very well cared for and supported through the whole event. And now when I wake up in the morning - I can SEE!!! So! You can't beat that!

The confidence I gained in consultations with Dr. Shamie carried through the cataract surgery she later completed with model professionalism and philanthropy. My much improved vision is a happy result, but the process, which might have been nervous, was a rewarding human experience.

Dr. Shamie is an outstanding corneal specialist. Unfortunately if you're considering LASIK -you should only go to the best. She was the only dr. in California to diagnosis an eye condition I have (Keratoconus) which has contributed to an irregular astigmatism & makes me a poor candidate for LASIK. All other opthalmalogists I met with were willing to do the procedure -unaware of the likely complications I'd face over time. She is several cuts above the rest.
The professionalism, care and attention to detail exhibited by MSVC staff is refreshingly impressive and much appreciated. The whole process of my cataract surgery was done in a thorough and effective manner. I especially appreciate Dr. Shamie checking in on me prior to surgery. The staff was very professional and friendly. I had cataract surgery and Dr. Shamie did the surgery. I must admit I was scared to have it done but Dr. Shamie made me feel at ease. Dr. Shamie is awesome. I went to see quite a few top rated specialists in the LA area for cataract surgery but I feel like Shamie is the best. She is very passionate about her work. Compared to her, the other doctors I met with seemed like they were just phoning it in. One of the things she did that impressed me, and I'm super grateful for, is that she managed to successfully place an "Extended Depth of Focus" (EDOF) Lens in my left eye when every other specialist said they would never attempt it because my left cornea was too thin. All the experts I consulted with said they would only put a monofocal in my left eye, which means I would be dependent on glasses for reading or distance. However, Shamie opted for the Vivity EDOF IOL, and she pulled it off! ...Now I don't need glasses at all. I can see 20/20 distance and also read my phone just fine. My near vision is very functional...Yet, it was a process to get there. She told me before my left eye surgery that she may not hit the target on the first surgery because my particular issue would be highly unpredictable and she may need to replace the IOL with a different refractive power. Well, that's what happened. After the first surgery, my distance vision was overshot with no intermediate or reading vision. So, we waited a few months and re-did the surgery with a different power Vivity lens. The 2nd surgery in my left eye was a great success. I have excellent reading vision with very close to 20/20 distance. It was totally worth it to go through 2 surgeries on my left eye to get this result and never have to deal with glasses again. I think this was a bold, and very caring move on her part to try to get the best result possible for me because she could have been complacent or apathetic like the other doctors and just told me to forget about an EDOF and just stuck me with a monofocal because it would be easier for her, but she didn't! ...She didn't want to settle for that, even after I originally requested the "Light Adjustable Lens" monofocal because the other doctors had already convinced me that the LAL was my best option. However, she said no, and recommended the Vivity, which in the end, yielded me a much better result than the LAL could have. ...And I didn't have to pay a dime for that 2nd surgery. Also, when Dr. Shamie did the 2nd surgery on my left eye she also performed a Reverse Optic Capture because after my 1st surgery I had significant Negative Dysphotopsia "ND". Now the "ND" is very much reduced and tolerable. It pops in once in a while but most of the time it is not noticeable. She also did a successful Yag Capsulotomy on my left eye. My right eye surgery went absolutely perfectly with distance hitting 20/15 and very good reading as well. So everything went as good as humanly possible. Nothing will ever be perfect but I think I got very lucky finding Dr.Shamie. She doesn't just seek an adequate result, she seeks a "Masterpiece", her words :) I see better now than I ever have in my entire life. A real life changer. I can't thank Dr. Shamie enough. The whole office is very well staffed, very professional and nice. The post op specialist I had, Dr. Luu, who did all my follow ups is fantastic. And my thanks to Luis, Jasmine, Vildi and the rest of the great staff. The initial consultation was more expensive than the other consultations I had but it also seemed more extensive and thorough than the others. If you have insurance, then the cost makes no difference. My highest recommendation for this outfit.

I am so pleased with the results of my successful cataract surgeries! I fully recommend Dr. Shamie and her staff, all of whom are competent, welcoming and respectful. Dr. Shamie is very caring and had my confidence with the decisions we made.
My cataract surgery with Dr. Shamie was a fantastic experience! Her office staff is exceptional – competent, professional, courteous, and friendly -- and she has a great personality and bedside manner. Although my visits with her were brief, I never felt rushed, and I felt that we became friends. Her manner instilled confidence and put me at ease. I was nonetheless a bit nervous on the day of my first surgery, but the surgery staff was very good and very friendly. Before the surgery, Dr. Shamie stopped by and addressed me by my nickname which eased my concerns. The surgery itself was done in 10-15 minutes, and Dr. Shamie took the time to tell me that things had gone well. In fact, the results were amazing! My vision was a little blurry after surgery but improved during the day. By the next morning, I was seeing 20-20, something I hadn’t done in many years, even with glasses. Now I can sit on our back porch and see birds, even tiny hummingbirds, that I could only hear before, and my distance vision is crystal clear. I very highly recommend Dr. Shamie if you are considering eye surgery.
I knew I was in safe, skilled, experienced hands. The office, staff, and patient experience were all top-notch. They were able to correct my vision even though it was too nearsighted for LASIK to be a good idea. A week and a half after surgery, after 31 years unable to function without glasses or contacts, I have 20/15 vision in both eyes.

Staff was uniformly courteous and professional. Very impressed, and if I needed laser cataract surgery on my left eye, which I currently do not, I would use them without hesitation.
The office and surgical center run smoothly, they're communicative and upfront and make it easy. They're clearly very experienced and do a lot of these, but it's not crowded and they don't treat you like a number. They do a super thorough workup. Before, I couldn't do anything without glasses or contacts, but my lenses were so thick, they got in the way of almost everything. I came in wanting LASIK, but my vision was too bad for LASIK to be a good idea. They had a procedure for me that worked. A week and a half later, I have 20/15 vision in both eyes. I avoided doing this for years because I wanted to find the right surgeon. Finding Dr. Shamie is the best thing that could have happened for me.

I am happy to share my cataract surgery experience under the care of Dr. Neda Shamie. My optometrist had advised me that cataracts in both eyes were the reason that new prescriptions were no longer effective. She referred me to the Maloney-Shamie Vision Institute. My first impression of the office was how efficient, but calm it was. They provided literature outlining various choices of lenses as replacements. I studied the options and spoke with friends who had undergone cataract surgery. My decision was to go with "extended range" distance lenses for both eyes and to rely on "readers" for close up work - like crossword puzzles. Your choices may be more or less complex. Surgery day was a model of quiet efficiency. Despite patients being wheeled along to different work stations as an assembly line, I always felt well-taken care of and in the very best of hands. The whole procedure from check-in to check-out took a couple hours. The first procedure on my left eye was so smooth, I was totally relaxed going in for my right eye a month later. I am male, retired, age 77, have my share of health issues, but remain an avid cyclist. Also, do NOT see the 1929 film "Un Chien Andalou" by Salvador Dali and Luis Bunuel.

Very efficient, but willing to spend the time necessary to provide the best outcome. Opted to go with the light adjustable lenses and during the adjustment visits was not satisfied with the early results. The team opted to have me check out some different options which required additional sessions at no additional cost. They took the time to make the lenses work well for me. Well… first of all, this is not my first surgery with Dr.Shamie (2016 DMEKs) but it is my first experience with the new office/practice. Appointments are prompt, organized and informative. I first set a surgery date for several months out to coincide with my new Medicare status but had to change it, twice. No problem. I had questions; easy answers. Plenty of clear paperwork, follow up emails and phone calls to make sure I was prepared and there were no surprises. The day of surgery, Dr.Shamie made her usual rounds to say hello and reassure me of a good outcome. After surgery, I experienced some bright white flashing and called in on a Saturday. The only glitch was when the paperwork said I could get in touch with someone 24/7 by calling the listed phone number…however when I called, the recording said to leave a message and they’d call back during regular business hours. I left a message and waited. No call back. Did that a few times then, feeling desperate, I found a chat box on the website and sent a message that way… finally I got a call back. It was just in time to drive out to the office from Pasadena before Saturday hours were over. Come to find out there was a technology glitch with the answering service. Then, good news, the flashing wasn’t serious and I went home relieved and seeing 20/15 with my new IOL! Yay! I’m a raving fan!

July 2022 was my second experience with Maloney-Shamie Vision Institute, having had Lasix surgery by Dr. Maloney in 2008. What a blessing it was to be able to see without contacts or glasses. However, as my eyes aged, I developed cataracts and was wearing reading glasses once again. I went to see Dr. Shamie for cataract surgery and was reassured by her calm demeanor in explaining the surgical procedure in detail as well as my options for the various types of implantable lenses. I chose the lenses that have a prescription for close-up vision in one eye and distance vision in the other. In the interim between the consultation and the surgery, I found the staff to be very responsive to the questions I asked or emailed. The procedures themselves (each eye, a week apart) took place at a Beverly Hills Surgery center where I found the nurses, techs and anesthesiologists to be efficient and professional. Within a day of each surgery, my eyes seemed totally recovered and I could read without glasses. Overall, my experience with Maloney-Shamie Vision was very positive and I recommend this practice without reservation.
My ophthalmologist advised me that I needed cataract surgery on both eyes and recommended Dr Shamie at the Maloney-Shamie Vision Institute. All of my appointments and other contact with Dr Shamie and the staff at the Institute were professional and friendly. All of my questions were answered regarding the options for a replacement lens. The first surgery went well and it's been less than a week since the surgery on my other eye. I can now see as well as I could with my last pair of glasses and I'm told that my sight will continue to improve over the next few weeks as my eyes heal completely. I went in for corrective vision procedure. It was a highly emotional experience as I have very poor vision and I've been waiting for this opportunity for a long time. The care and kindness of each employee was above and beyond. My office exam experience was very thorough, and the staff and Dr. Shamie clearly explained what the procedure entailed. I was also given a lot of printed info and booklets to read which further explained the cataract removal and lens replacement procedures. The actual surgery is fairly simple and fast. Upon arrival at the surgery center, I had a few more papers to sign, drops put in my eye, an IV started and off I went. Nice to just be able to leave your clothes on and be able to walk out of the surgery center with no eye bandages. Dr. Shamie called me the evening after my surgeries to see how I was feeling. The next day after each surgery I went back to their office to have a check-up. I had also set up the portal with their office to be able to ask any questions and were promptly answered. Extremely thorough (more than 2 hour) exam at the well-organized office by pleasant, well-trained staff, who were in uniform. Lots of diagnostic equipment led to a choice between three options. No pushback by choosing just about the least expensive option. The two surgeries at a surgery center were separated by a week. Each took about 1.5 hours, including initial paperwork, procedure (very quick) and recovery. Follow-up after each surgery at the main office. An unexpected but much appreciated call in the evening by Dr. Shamie to check on me. I'm thrilled with the results.

Dr. Shamie and her team were absolutely terrific. They were very professional and knowledgeable and answered all my questions. They thoroughly examined my eyes and recommended PRK for me which was perfect because that was my original decision. On the day of the procedure, they examined my eyes again to ensure everything is good and helped me relax. Before I knew it, it was done in less than 10 minutes. First of all everyone in the office was so nice. This is the nicest medical office I have ever been too! What made me choose Dr. Shamir is that she is a female doctor in which made me feel so comfortable and relaxed during our virtual consult. Talking to her was like talking to a friend. The process was so easy! I was able to get all of my questions answered during the virtual consult and learned I could be fast tracked in which when I did go into the office for the in person consult and if everything was fine I would be able to get the procedure the same day! Everything went so fast and smoothly. There was little wait time in the office and I was in and out within 2 hours (which included all the tests and procedure)! It seemed from the start that they wanted me to have the best experience and get the best vision adjustment they could give. The office worked with me on payment plans and surgery schedules to make it easier for me which I appreciated. I am seeing my local doctor for after care (who recommended Dr. Shamie). One of the incisions in my first eye did not seem to close up immediately and Dr Shamie stayed in constant contact with my local doctor to help coordinate follow up and how to handle. She.has also called me at home several times to check in and is still working with my local doctor to consult with her on how the remaining inflammation is being cared for and ensure that all is going well. My surgery was recent so still a few follow ups to go but I feel like I am getting the best care and will continue to until everything is thoroughly healed. Thank you to all.

I had one of those Too Good To Be True experiences here. Everything was quite literally perfect. The staff were all unbelievably helpful and accommodating. Dr. Shamie answered all my questions and the office staff was always available by text or email to answer any questions or concerns that you may have. The procedure was so quick and Dr. Shamie was there to talk you through the whole process. I never felt like I was just a number but rather a very well cared for patient. Dr. Shamie performed PRK surgery on me in late July. I was not a candidate for LASIK due to my thin cornea layer. Dr. Shamie was open and honest during her diagnosis and recommendation. I did not feel pressured to have the procedure. Her tech staff, and intern Doctor, were very supportive in explaining the process and results. I did feel that the front desk could use a bit more training in bedside manner and courtesy. One woman was a bit off putting. If it were not for Dr. Shamie’s warm demeanor and stellar reputation as well as her clinical staff, I may have gone elsewhere.

Spectacular experience no pain during or after cataract surgery I can see much better more colorful and clear after cataract surgery they even gave me free eyedrops to take home so I wouldn’t have to drag myself to a pharmacy after having surgery unlike UCLA where I had a very rough experience and my eye hurt for six months after the surgery there and was several thousand dollars more
Shamie was such an amazing doctor. I went in being so nervous and she put me at ease. She walked me through the entire Lasik procedure the week before and then during the actual procedure she made sure I was comfortable and spoke the entire time to me. It's almost been a month out from the procedure and it's one of the best decisions I've ever made. I'm so glad I found them.

I found out 6 years ago that a had Fuchs Dystrophy. I had no idea what is was and was referred to Dr. Shamie . She was wonderful in the way she explained it detailing that it is hereditary and shows up as we age. She explained how I had the beginning stages and I wouldn't need her services for another 5 or 6 years. Fast forward 6 years and I can't tell you what a difference in my eyesight. The procedure to correct this is called DMEK. It will be 2 weeks tomorrow and I am so pleased with the result. Everyone from the office to the Surgical center were kind and calming. I have already scheduled my other eye for DMEK and can't wait to have clear focused eyes again. I would recommend Maloney-Shamie Vision Institute for All vision challenges.

All of the nurses, doctors and staff were very pleasant and helpful. I had my first eye surgery a week ago, so I cannot elaborate much on the results as my vision is still adjusting. However, Dr. Shamie is very caring and made me feel well taken cared of. I was given all the information to decide what I needed. The operation process was great as I had no pain and great sight immediately. I would highly recommend them in all aspects of the operation. It's been a few weeks since my procedure and everything is looking really good. They were really professional and helpful throughout the process, the surgeon is the one you get to meet during your assessment which is reassuring to know that they're seeing your results and speaking with you prior to operating on you. I've been to other places where you wouldn't even meet the surgeon until they're about to operate on you. Dr. Shamie was amazing and even made sure to reach out afterwards to make sure you're doing okay, and is there to answer any questions you have. The only down side is - for a place that's charging quite a lot they only validate parking the day of your procedure and won't do so for the next day / follow ups. It would have been nice to not have to worry about that especially when you come in early the next morning for a check up while still having blurry vision. the garage is SUPER expensive.

How far above outstanding can get? It's beyond that. I have a serious illness for 50 years and have seen many specialists. Maloney-Shamie Vision Institute is by far the best. I had a two month crying painful recovery from a cornea replacement doctor from UCLA. He just said I couldn't tolerate pain well despite numerous joint fusions and replacements. Instead of a cornea replacement, Maloney-Shamie advised a two minute in office procedure. It worked! Now I don't need the cornea replacement. I love them!
I hesitated for so long because we spend life listening to other people’s opinions what if? To much! I would spend $600-900 in designer frames then then another 800 to put my prescription in all to look sharp try doing that for 8 different pairs add it and it don’t come Close!! I could actually see now my nose is not itching this Dam mask is no longer fogging my vision. This was so quick and so easy I’ve already recommended all my friends if your checking for reviews this is the place I’m not getting paid I’m just grateful thank you the worse part was having to update my face unlock on the phone 😂 it didn’t recognize me.
I had right-eye DMEK with Dr. Shamie, and my wife had both of her cataract surgeries with her. She is a consummate professional with superb surgical technique as well as a warm and caring bedside manner. We are fortunate indeed to be within easy driving distance. Due to Covid, my cataract surgery was delayed until this month. My first appointment was in March, so, surgeries were delayed and was told they would call and schedule when things were open. I did not hear from them by September. I called to hear that surgeries were back since May. My file fell through the cracks. Dr Shamie called me directly to apologize for this. I appreciated this and went ahead with the surgery this month. I was thrilled with how it all went at the surgery center and the results of the surgery!. I was very apprehensive about having corrective corneal replacement surgery (DSEK) having had problems with cataract removal in my left eye. What a success it has been, though. After only one week my eyesight is better than I could have expected. Both my surgeon, Dr. Shamie, and the ophthalmologist, Dr. Vogel, have been professional and positive. Although I don't require the same type of surgery on my other eye, just cataract removal, I am thinking seriously of making the trek to Westwood because I trust them explicitly.
Wow, I couldn't believe how clear I could see right after leaving the surgery center. My distance vision was fantastic and the improvement was huge. It took more than 24 hours for the dilation to go away, so my close up vision took a little while. My post op reports on my vision and eye condition have been excellent. I had two cornea transplant attempts from another doctor. I could not see from my eye for over three months! I was so depressed and handicapped all this time. The Maloney-Shamie Eye Surgery practice is outstanding.I am now one month post cataract surgery and my vision is excellent. I consulted several other cataract surgery clinics over the last few years but was unimpressed. Then I recently asked my new optometrist for a referral and she immediately recommended the Maloney Shamie practice in Westwood. Booking the appointment was easy and I was seen within a few weeks. The clinic is well managed. The staff are smart, pleasant and work well together. All of my testing was done the same morning and then I met Dr Shamie. She is smart, thoughtful, pleasant,and patient-oriented. She reviewed the test results and answered my questions so clearly. She is the only consultant that actually asked me what I wished to accomplish from the surgery. We then discussed options, costs and potential benefits and side effects. At that point, I realized she would be my surgeon. We booked dates for surgery. The outpatient surgery clinic was very good and all the staff that I met were superb. The sedation was safe, adequate and the surgery was painless. This clinic is a model of how healthcare should be given.
I knew for a few years that I was developing cataracts, but the impact became significant enough this year to motivate me to seek treatment. I scheduled an appointment with a local ophthalmology specialist. I learned from him that the radial keratotomy (RK) procedures I had performed of thirty years ago to correct my nearsightedness was going to present challenges for achieving living glasses free and the increased risk of RK during cataract surgery. He referred me to Dr. Shamie at the Maloney-Shamie Eye Institute (MSVI). I flew into LA for an initial consultation. I was familiar with some of the instruments but there were a host of different tests to better map the deformity of my cornea created from the 8 RK incisions in each eye. At the end of the testing I was able to spend time with Dr. Shamie to discuss the available lens options. Based on my legacy RK, it came down to traditional cataract removal with standard lens, laser cataract removal with standard lens and light adjusted lenses (LAL). RK patients typically require continued reliance on corrective glasses following cataract surgery and I was interested in being glasses free, so the light adjusted lens option was particularly attractive. But for me, the time commitment to complete the series of light treatments to achieve the best outcome was not feasible so I opted for the laser surgery with the standard lens. Dr. Shamie and her staff did an excellent presentation of my options. I was listened to and all my questions were answered. My decision to move forward with Dr. Shamie was primarily driven by her proven and easily recognized dedication to science and the practice of her chosen field. Having been published over fifty times together with her professional accomplishments provided me with significant confidence and comfort of moving forward with her care. Scheduling was a breeze and I totally appreciated the online electronic forms. It's so annoying in these times to have to fill out paper forms that are excruciatingly redundant. All my staff interactions were great. The level of professionalism and friendliness contributed to a near perfect overall experience. Appointment wait times were incredibly short. My surgeries were separated by one day with a post op check-in between and after the second eye. The first eye exceeded all expectations when I woke up the next day and when I learned that I had 20/20 vision in my right eye! The second eye is still settling in, but I haven’t worn glasses for four days! And, oh my the colors and clarity are mind blowing! I couldn’t be happier with the outcome. Its been 25 years of wearing contact lenses. During the year 2022, I spent the majority of it wearing eyeglasses due to severe dry eyes. I didn't want to get back into contact lenses due to developing severe dry eyes and can get even worse. I wasn't a candidate for lasik for 2 reasons. My severe myopia and severe dry eyes. This is the Rolls Royce of eye surgeries, particularly for premium focal cataract surgery. This multi-lens surgery allows you to correct both near-and far-sightedness, throwing away all glasses forever. But it's not covered by Medicare. My surgery was done by Dr. Shamie-- very professional. The out-patient surgery itself is only 15 min., in their own facility, with follow-up appointments. The entire staff--including optometrist Dr. Luu-- are empathic, always on-time. This surgery was worth every penny!

I am a very picky with health care providers as I work in healthcare/sciences. Initially I was just going in for a consult, thinking I'd get two opinions and decide, but the care and service here had me locked in and I walked out of there with two eyes lasered. The tech doing all the pre testing was great, told me why each test was needed and how it helped them figure out what would best suit my needs. Dr. Shamie came in and was warm, clear and honest about what laser could and couldn't do for my vision and made me feel confident that if I was going to trust anyone to laser my eyes, she's a good choice. So I did it and believe it was the best investment ever. I feared the possibility of dry eyes because that was my problem with contacts but I followed their recommendations to a T to avoid any period of dryness in the first month and have had no real issues. Occasionally I get dry but nothing like what I experienced with contacts so all in all waking up and seeing clear and not having to deal with contact eye fatigue makes it all worth it to me and I would recommend Dr Shamie and this center for sure.
SO grateful for Dr. Shamie for my perfect vision. I had my lasik procedure a little less than a month ago and my eyes are perfectly healed and seeing great! My eyes were a little on the dry side for a week or two during the healing process (as expected) but now at 4 weeks post op they feel pretty perfect! I just got back from a trip to visit relatives in Texas and I had such a blast boating and swimming in the lake without having to worry about contacts or glasses. So stoked!!!

I've been considering LASIK for a while now and have met with several surgeons over the last few years, and after meeting with Dr. Shamie and all the other amazing team at the Maloney-Shamie Vision Institute, it was easy to finally pull the trigger and choose Dr. Shamie to perform my LASIK. The entire process from the first initial appointment, the actual procedure (which was so quick, painless, and easy) to the follow up post-op appointments, was amazing. I can't say enough good things and I've already referred a few friends.
Im in my 40s and have wanted to get LASIK for many years. I've worn contacts since I was a teenager. My prescription was quite high , at -5 per eye ( miopia ) . I was referred to this clinic by a friend. From the first consultation I was impressed with the attentiveness and care from Dr. Neda Shamie and her team. The technicians took time to answer every single question I had. I had the surgery on January 27th. I was so nervous on the day of the surgery but Dr Shamie and the girls put me at ease. Dr Shamie has the hands of an angel , she was so gentle during surgery and walked me through the whole procedure while operating on my eyes. The surgery itself lasted about 10 minutes. The recovery wasn't bad either - I dealt with dry eyes / slight blurry visions for a few days but nothing compared to -5 miopia ! I've referred quite a few friends to this clinic and I'm not sure why I didnt do this sooner ! Thank you Dr Neda Shamie for restoring my vision. I highly recommend this clinic if you're considering doing LASIK. The best of the best !
Both my children had went there. My daughter was almost legally blind and thanks to Dr. Shamie she can see without glasses and only needs them to read. My son got lasik. Great follow up with patients. Love you guys!
My bf did his Lasik with Dr Shamie early 2021 and he made me feel comfortable and confident in my decision to choose Maloney-Shamie Vision Institute for my Eye Lasik. I did my consultation oct21,2021 and did the surgery same day lol!!! Wonderful staff and extremely skilled and caring surgeon. Dr. Maloney was warm and friendly, and my Lasik took less than 10 mins! I couldn't believe how fast it was! Immediately after it was over, I stood up and could see a significant difference in my vision and only had a little fog in my vision. Recovery was painless, woke up the next morning seeing a brand-new world - it was amazing I was seeing 20/20. Now I am two weeks out and seeing even better. Have some halos at night but I can already tell they are getting better every day. The staff is so sweet and scheduling follow ups is easy with great text reminders. I would highly recommend them to anyone considering Lasik Thank you all so much!

I had a wonderful experience. The office staff are super nice. Dr Shammie polished my corneas and performed cataract surgery on me. I can't recommend her enough. She a fabulous doctor!
Lasik is life-changing... Maloney-Shamie Vision Institute has the latest technology and staff that allowed for my procedure to be stress and anxiety-free. Dr Shamie was very meticulous in her craft!
Highly recommend for LASIK consultation and surgery. Dr. Shamie's staff is incredibly professional. They went above and beyond to make me feel comfortable with the procedure. I had a TON of questions and spoke with multiple members of Dr. Shamie's team. All knowledgeable and answered in a way that was understandable. The procedure itself is quick and you'll be in/out in less than a hour. Dr. Shamie has a presence that is inviting and her confidence is palpable. Knocked out when I got home and missed a call from her office checking in on me. When I didn't answer, Dr. Shamie herself texted me to see how I was doing. It's now been ~24 hours since my LASIK and everything is going well. If you've been on the fence about LASIK or Dr. Shamie, then I hope this review helps you take the plunge. Dr. Shamie performed a life changing cataract removal and lens implementation flawlessly. Medical doctors staff at the office and surgery center are awesome. Highly recommend
