Monica Youcefi, OD
Dr. Monica Youcefi specializes in the preoperative evaluation and postoperative care of patients at the Maloney-Shamie Vision Institute. In addition, she is the light treatment specialist for our Light Adjustable Lens patients.
Dr. Youcefi graduated Cum Laude from University of California, Los Angeles with a Bachelors in History and a minor in Women’s Studies. After graduation, Dr. Youcefi gained a plethora of experience in the eye care field and developed a passion for helping people see the world in a better way. She then went on to graduate from Midwestern University, Arizona College of Optometry and has been a practicing optometrist in the field of refractive and cataract surgery since 2015.
Dr. Youcefi serves as an adjunct professor at Western University of Health Sciences College of Optometry and enjoys teaching students about optometry’s role in the management and care of patients pre- and post-operatively. She is a proud member of the American Academy of Optometry and has written textbook chapters and presented several case reports on the topics of refractive and cataract surgery. In addition, she performs light treatments for our Light Adjustable Lens patients.
During her spare time, Dr. Youcefi enjoys spending time with family and friends, traveling, practicing yoga, and solving sudoku puzzles.
Kristin Barnes, OD
At the Maloney-Shamie Vision Institute, Dr. Kristin Barnes specializes in the preoperative evaluation and postoperative care of patients.
Dr. Barnes received her bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences from Arizona State University in Tempe, AZ. She then attended Nova Southeastern University College of Optometry in Ft. Lauderdale, FL, to receive her Doctor of Optometry (O.D.) degree.
While in optometry school, Dr. Barnes served as the President of Nova Optometric Practice Management Association (NOPMA) and President of the national Student Optometric Leadership Network (SOLutioN). Due to her compassion and dedication to private practice, she was awarded with the VSP & AAOF Practice Excellence Scholarship and was the recipient of the Marchon Practice Management Award of Excellence of her graduating class. She was inducted into the Gold Key International Optometric Honor Society, which is awarded to the top 10% of each class that demonstrates outstanding professional and ethical attitude through leadership and service to their class, college and profession.
During her clinical rotations, she completed externships at an multi-subspecialty ophthalmology private practice and a VA hospital, all of which encouraged her to pursue a residency in ocular disease after graduation. She completed a 13-month Residency in Ocular Disease at Aran Eye Associates in Miami, FL, where she worked extensively with each ophthalmology specialist and experienced a high-volume of diverse patients. She gained valuable experience in the diagnosis and treatment of ocular disease, and pre- and post-operative management of surgical patients. In addition, she performs light treatments for our Light Adjustable Lens patients.
During her spare time, Dr. Barnes enjoys riding her peloton, going to the beach, and spending time with her husband and their golden retriever puppy.
Kristine Park, OD
Dr. Kristine Park earned her Doctor of Optometry degree at Western University of Health Sciences after receiving her Bachelor of Sciences from University of California San Diego. During her last year of optometry school, she completed her externships at Tsehootsui Medical Center in Arizona, Orlando Veterans Affairs Hospital in Florida, Eisner Health and ChapCare clinics in Los Angeles, and South Coast Eye Care Center in Laguna Hills.
After graduation, she expanded her knowledge and clinical skills by completing a residency program at the Veterans Affairs San Diego Healthcare System in Primary Eye Care, emphasis in Ocular Disease. During her residency, she presented a poster case called “Chronic Hemi-retinal Vein Occlusion with Macular Edema, Secondary to Methamphetamine Use” at American Academy of Optometry meeting in Orlando and also wrote a case report called “Digging Deeper- Ocular Albinism”. In addition, she performs light treatments for our Light Adjustable Lens patients.
Dr. Park enjoys playing with her little corgi, trying new food places, traveling around the world, and playing golf.
